About David Whatson

I live in Brisbane, Australia and love information, creativity, music, film, good coffee and my genius girlfriend.

I will read almost anything that comes my way but just to narrow things down I’ll list some of my favourite authors: Angela Carter, Haruki Murakami, Philip K Dick, Jorge luis Borges, Mark Twain (particularly his travel books), Michael Chabon, Peggy Taub, Simon Winchester, Melvyn Bragg, Bill Bryson, T.C. Boyle, Alastair Reynolds, Ian M Banks, Joseph Roth, Kurt Vonnegurt, Daniel J. Boorstin, Jules Verne and H.G. Wells. This list is representative, not exhaustive and is under constant revision.

I’d list some of my favourite musicians, bands and composers but there’s not enough space. So I’ll just say that, like reading, I’ll have a listen to anything that comes my way and the list is always expanding.

I have a couple of tertiary qualifications and I’m currently doing a Masters in Information Technology (Library and Information Services). My day job is lecturing in Anatomy and Physiology.

When I’m not reading, I listen to podcasts, play the flute and saxophone and attempt to compose music. Then there are the days when I write stuff. I have an organic vegetable garden and had a main role in one of the worst low-budget sci-fi films ever made.

By the way, did I mention my genius girlfriend?
